Some thoughts of the English Learning Approaches

Some teachers can speak English fluently and naturally  But a certain teacher should say OK ou kai in Chinese instead of Ok(ey) in English. Is it a pity? shame I must confess that she isn't alone in making such mistakes .Generally speaking all the teaching should be done in English as much as possible and in Chinese only when necessary .But the fact is that almost all the teaching is done in Chinese and in English only when inevitable The reason for this is that the teachers themselves can't use the language freely So they're afraid of making mistakes and putting shame to themselves before the students. But they have to speak English when they are giving lectures on such occasions. No wonder that they can't speak English as smoothly as others ! How can we teachers require the students to practise spoken-English when we can't use it? Actually , the use of the communicative approach requires the teachers to have the fluent and standard oral English, rich knowledge of linguistics and rich experience in the use of teaching methods.      Nonetheless, we have no objection to the use of the communicative approach. What really troubles us most is that we have no contact with the foreigners to say nothing of the practical application. It is so with a teacher. What will it be to a student? As a teacher, I am tired of this kind of dull and unreal English language practice. No situation is real without the foreigners. Real situations can't be created and are not created. They exist themselves .Nowadays I often think of the novel The scapegoat which described a French teacher who taught English in France got away from the school, feeling tired of teaching English without having any contact with the English-speaking natives and knowing nothing of the country, its people and its culture.
A new but famous saying goes like this :'*Teaching without doing research is shallow while doing research without teaching is dull ".This is what a teacher said and was passed on to a famous man in the field of education Then it was passed to us teachers not long ago in PuYang I hope that it can go into the ears of the people who are doing research and giving lectures everywhere to the           teachers without teaching English themselves.   ?
